The light chasm seeks to reinvigorate the new museum in relation to the Bowery and the street itself. The chasm orients itself perpendicular to Bowery face Prince street. This orientation allows the chasm to orient itself toward the traffic of the Bowery area and receive maximum sunlight from the southern sun. The chasm shapes itself from top to bottom choreographed to its surrounding programs while maximizing sun exposure and structural performance. At the lowest level the chasm serves as a foundation for the 180 foot tower. At the ground floor it widens and angles itself to create an entry from Bowery and prince. As the Chasm moves up it narrows to maximize interior space for program. When the Chasm reaches the upper portion of the museum it becomes a channel of light for the galleries below. The chasm also serves as a spatial catalyst, circulation core, and structural core.

Design and Fabrication

WELCOME TO THE L.A FILM SCHOOL’S GLOBAL BAZAAR. THE BAZAAR IS SPATIALLY AND PHYSICALLY DEVELOPED AND DERIVED DIRECTLY FROM THE ORIGINAL ARCHITECTURAL MORPHOLOGIES INTENT TO BRIDGE THE INTERSECTION OF SUNSET AND CAHUENGA TO INNER IVAR AVE. THIS INTENT CREATED A RAISED CENTRAL SPINE WHICH FORMS A UNIQUE SPACE BELOW THE STRUCTURE  THAT BRIDGES THE INTERSECTION TO INNER IVAR. A KNOTTED CIRCULATION SYSTEM WITHIN THE STRUCTURE JOINED WITH THE ENTRY POINTS OF THE STRUCTURE CREATE A CENTRAL ATRIUM WHICH DRAWS LIGHT INTO THE BAZAAR WHILE CREATING AN OPEN ATRIUM.
     
THE BAZAAR’S PHYSICAL EXISTENCE IS JUST AS INTRICATELY PLANNED OUT AS ITS INTENT FOR USE. THE BAZAAR IS OPEN TO THE WORLD. WORLD CINEMA IS CONTROVERSIAL AND EYE OPENING. THE BAZAR WILL ACT WITH THE SAME INTENT AS COMMON WORLD CINEMA, TO INTRODUCE OR BRING A NON LOCALIZED CONDITION. THE BAZAAR MAY HOST GLOBAL AND CULTURAL EVENTS, RELIEF EFFORTS, AND OF COURSE CINEMA RELATED FESTIVITIES. PERHAPS MONDAY IS A DAY FOR BHANGRA DANCING AND FUNDRAISING FOR POVERTY IN A 3RD WORLD COUNTRY. BUT ON SUNDAYS THE BAZAAR IS HOST TO THE LOCAL HOLLYWOOD FARMERS MARKET

Cloud was an entry to the Metropolis workplace of the future competition in 2012. This was a collaborative effort with two other interns during my time at Gensler San Francisco.

Cloud was a futuristic approach to create a futuristic collaborative and modular work space that would utilize the space between existing high rises. Cloud's ability to join and bridge independent buildings is a literal attempt to enhance and hybridize different offices and practices.

This project was an exploration of a previous project's drawings and models reinterpreted into a sculptural relief.

Housing project created during the 2013 Julius Shulman Emerging Talent Award competition. I along with two other students were given 2 1/2 days time to create a housing project for the elderly.

This studio began as an investigation in different methods of drawing down town Los Angeles. Using projections of the city skyline from many angles simultaneously creates a new spatial visualization of Los Angeles. The same projection methods were then utilized to create the downtown office project. The project's sections were represented using axonometric drawing.

a. A usually skylighted central area, often containing plants, in some modern buildings, especially of a public or commercial nature.
b. The open area in the center of an ancient Roman house.

Historically architecture has been interested in the enclosure as the boundary between public and private space. In Politics of the Envelope, by Alejandro Zaera Polo, Zaera Polo is interested in the idea that envelope, arguably the most politically influenced component of architecture today, may begin to have its own influence on its surroundings. 

Driven by the desire to push this envelope strategy deep into the building. This thesis transforms the conventional exterior approach into one that studies the political thresholds within the more immersive and potentially more choreographed environment at the heart of the building. Operating on what is commonly called an atrium this thesis is aimed at dissolving the urban fabric into a more robust intertwined network of envelopes. The intersection and connection of the atrium to the urban fabric increases the influence of architecture politically by blurring what is private and public.
